Using a Wall Mural to Spice up a Child's Room

By Anonymous Ink

The most obvious way to personalize a childs bedroom is through painting the walls, but a wall mural is by far the most creative and original way to do this. If you would like to encourage creative energy in a child, there is nothing better than a wall mural.

However, if you are planning on using a wall mural to give your unique child a unique bedroom tailored to their personal interests there are a few important things you should first consider.

1) Work with your child to come up with a great design As a parent, you must guide your child into choosing a design for a wall mural. Since it is something that your child will have for years to come, it is best to avoid focusing on a passing trend your child is currently obsessed over. Suggest longer lasting ideas that a child will not grow out of, such as a pretty scenic setting. However, you can not just pick a design on your childs behalf a wall mural must be something that he or she has an interest in and will like to look at.

2) A wall mural is not a DIY project!!! Even if you are a talented artist, painting a wall mural is not as easy as it sounds. If you really love your child, you should hire somebody with experience in wall murals. (You can find an experienced artist on findamuralist.com)

3) While it's always nice to get a family feel to your' room, you may not want to paint a family or the child's picture on the wall - you will have a tough time switching the room for one of your' kids, or showing the house if you decide to sell it. Instead here are a couple of other things you can paint; The Stars, An ocean view or some exotic country

4) Designate a waiting period After deciding on a design for a wall mural wait about 3 months before taking action. Consider the commitment of a wall mural to a tattoo. Once its there, youre stuck with it, so you want to be 100% positive there are no changes of mind. If after 3 months you have no doubt about the design, then you know you have chosen well. Proceed!

5) Pay attention to the amount of space available If you want to spark creativity in your child through use of a wall mural, you dont want something that will be covered up by furniture. While a wall mural does not need to cover an entire wall, you should consider the size of a room, and the placement of furniture. The size of a wall mural should actually be decided on before the design itself, because a hole into another universe piece will not be as effective if the wall mural is only 4 x 4.

6) You have the right to veto! A 10 year old girl may swear that she wants a wall mural of Hannah Montana or High School Musical. She may want it really bad too but she will be 12 in only 2 years and at that point will have lost interest. This is just as true with boys. So allowing your child to choose their own wall mural design is really a 2 person job. Eventually you will both agree on a pattern.
