Depression Help Without Drugs

Many forms of depression do not need anti depressant drugs for successful treatment. You should always check with your doctor, but if you are taking anti depressant drugs for depression and would like to eventually stop, or if you are having some depression but dont want to take drugs for it, you can often defeat depression on your own.

In what ways can depression be defeated without drugs? There are three main avenues you can explore to remedy your depression.

The first method is to get talk therapy. We all know about it. Talk therapy has come a long way since lying back on the couch, and has a good success rate providing depression help. This comes from the fact that most types of depression are emotionally caused, not physically caused. Talking about your feelings is a powerful method to heal yourself more naturally and work through the emotional causes.

A second method for treating depression is through diet and supplementation. Some people respond well to simply removing refined white sugar from their diet and adding a few supplements like L Glutamine (an amino acid) and lecithin, among others. We all know if you eat junk food, you start to feel junky. Well, the common Western diet is full of junk processed foods that rob our bodies and minds of needed nutrition.

A third approach to natural depression help is to do emotional "body work." You could say that just as you have a physical body, you have a mental body as well. This is kind of obvious. But you also have an emotional body that processes emotions like the mental body processes thoughts and ideas. Each of our three "bodies" is interconnected. And each of them requiries their own forms of exercise and nutrition for optimal health.

Just like we need to challenge and exercise our mind with games from crossword puzzles to reading a good book, we also need to exercise our emotional bodies.

Learning emotional body work isnt hard, and there are several exercises you can do in just ten minutes a day to strengthen your emotional body. These revolve around exploring various emotions rather than resisting them, and learning to be more accepting of our whole range of emotions.
